Music Thread

Continuing with the idea of having open-ish threads around here (they seem to generate a lot of readership and/or comments, so I’m going to call them successful), how about one about music. Here’s my idea: I saw this video where Richard Dawkins talks about how much he likes Bach’s sacred music, that he finds it moving, or aesthetically pleasing, or what-have-you. I thought I’d try a bit of an inversion and see what the readers/authors of this blog would count as music that was originally not conceived for any specific sacred purpose (i.e.: a mass, a hymn, et cetera) that they find spiritually significant. To make this interesting, let’s add a degree of difficultly: you can’t pick any of the usual cliches. That means no U2, no Johnny Cash. Go!
