Mapping the Schism

This CBC interactive map struck me as interesting just in terms of the geographic distribution of Anglican churches that are breaking with the Anglican Church in Canada. The bulk of these churches are in the vicinity of either Toronto or Vancouver, two of the most cosmopolitan (and gay-friendly) cities in Canada. I suspect that this distribution is not accidental, but what does it mean? Are the conservative Anglicans in most of the country only exposed to this topic as an abstract issue? Many of these churches are in a sort of suburban belt, is there something about the suburbs that predicts this schismatic behaviour?
